In der
Nacht zeigte ein heftiges Gewitter wie unwirklich das Wetter hier sein kann,
das die Inseln für einige Zeit vom Rest der Welt abschneiden kann... Die Lage
besserte sich dann zusehends, so dass der Schiffsverkehr funktionierte!
During the night a fierce thunderstorm showed how unreal the weather can be here cutting off the islands from the rest of the world for some time... The situation then improved noticeably, so that the maritime traffic was working!

Nach dem
Frühstück begleitete ich Renato auf einer steilen Mulattiera (schmale Steinstrasse
eigentlich für die Esel ; ), die früher hier alles transportierten) hinunter
zum Hafen. Er fuhr mit der Liberty Lines nach Lipari, wo der Katamaran Kaskazi
Four vor Anker lag und nach Palermo gesegelt werden musste um die nächsten
Gäste aufzunehmen... Auch meine Zimmernachbarn Carola und Markus gingen eine
Insel weiter, und zwar nach Stromboli.
After breakfast I accompanied Renato on a steep mulattiera (narrow stone road actually built for the donkeys ; ) once transporing everything here) down to the harbour. He drove to Lipari with the Liberty Lines, where the catamaran Kaskazi Four was anchored and had to be sailed to Palermo to accommodate the next guests... Also my room neighbours Carola and Markus went on to next island, namely to Stromboli.

Ich
hingegen beschloss meine angefangene Wanderung zum Capo Graziano fortzusetzen,
wo sich hoch oben auf einem Plateau die Überreste des prähistorischen Dorfes
Montagnola aus der Bronzezeit befinden. Es war ziemlich heiss und ich bald
schweissgebadet, so nahm ich die Gelegenheit wahr an der naheliegenden Spiaggia
delle Punte ein erfrischendes Bad zu nehmen - einfach immer nur herrlich ohne
Kleider und Mensch weit und breit! Als mich die Sonne abgetrocknet hatte, nahm
ich die Mulattiera bergauf zum Hotel La Canna. Auf der kleinen 9,5 km2
grossen Insel Filicudi hat es zwar einige Strassen und Autos, aber noch viel
mehr Wanderwege...
Als ich
am Mittag zurück im La Canna war, verdichteten sich die Wolken und Regen kam
auf - perfekt um aufzuarbeiten, besonders da Vincenzo mit einem Router zurück
aus Palermo war und es gutes Internet zum Arbeiten gab! : )
I however decided to continue my walk to Capo Graziano, where high up on a plateau there are the remains of the prehistoric Bronze Age village of Montagnola. It was quite hot and I soon soaking weat, so I took the opportunity to take a refreshing dip at the nearby Spiaggia delle Punte - just always great without clothes and people far and wide! When the sun had dried me up, I took the mulattiera uphill to the Hotel La Canna. On the small 9.5 km2 island Filicudi there are a few streets and cars, but many more hiking trails...
When I got back to La Canna at noon, the clouds thickened and rain came up - perfect to catch up with work, especially since Vincenzo was back from Palermo with a router and there was good internet to continue my blog! : )

Gegen
Abend machte ich einen Spaziergang zur Spiaggia delle Punte, von wo man
ebenfalls den Sonnenuntergang bewundern kann - und das tat ich! Es hatte
tatsächlich einen Wetterwechsel stattgefunden:
viel Wind und die Temperaturen waren jetzt 20 Grad in der Nacht und 23 am Tag -
endlich kamen meine Fleecejacken zum Einsatz!
Towards the evening I went for a walk to Spiaggia delle Punte, another place to admire the sunset – which I did! There actually had been a change of weather: a lot of wind and temperatures now 20 centigrade at night and 23 during the day - finally my fleece jackets were used!

Als ich
durch Filicudi Porto schlenderte, hörte ich Martino und Tiziano auf ihrer
Terrasse… sie hatten mich heute Morgen angesprochen und spontan zum Abendessen
eingeladen. Die beiden waren natürlich perplex als ich vor ihrer Tür stand,
denn die meisten Menschen sagen mehr als sie tun! So lernte ich auch Martinos
beide Söhne Michele und Tito und den dritten Freund im Bunde kennen: Cesare,
ein passionierter Hobby-Koch: Zum Apero degustierte ich 2 Weine seines Weingutes
im Veneto (Valpolicella), als Primo servierte er köstliche Spaghetti Carbonara
und als Secondo noch köstlicheres Lonzo di Maiale Arrosto (Schweinsbraten mit
einer genialen Sauce). Die 3 Ärzte verbringen seit Jahren einen Monat auf den
Äolischen Inseln, zuerst hatten sie 10 Jahre ein Haus auf Panarea und seit 3
Jahren hier auf Filicudi... Wir verbrachten einen Interessenten, lustigen und
gemütlichen Abend begleitet von Maria Callas und flimmerndem Blitzlicht über
dem Meer... Zum Abschluss wurde ich noch hoch zum Hotel gefahren, damit ich den
Weg nicht im Dunkeln suchen musste - was für ein Leben darf ich hier auf den
Äolischen Inseln erfahren, ja: Die Vulkane haben mich schon immer angezogen! :

As I strolled through Filicudi Porto, I heard
Martino and Tiziano on their patio... they had approached me this morning and
invited me spontaneously for dinner. Both of them were perplexed when I stood
in front of their door, because most people say more than they do! That’s how I
got to know Martino's two sons Michele and Tito and their third friend: Cesare,
a passionate hobby chef: For aperitif I tasted 2 wines of his winery in Veneto
(Valpolicella), as primo he served
delicious spaghetti carbonara and as secondo even more delicious lonzo di
maiale arrosto (roast pork with a great gravy). The 3 doctors spend a month on
the Aeolian Islands for years, first they had a house on Panarea for 10 years
and now here on Filicudi since 3 years... We spent an interesting, humorous and
cozy evening accompanied by Maria Callas and flashing thunderstorms over the ocean...
In the end I was driven up to the hotel, so I did not have to search my way in
the dark - what a life I am allowed to experience here on the Aeolian Islands,
yes: Volcanoes have always attracted me! : ))
