Um 14:15 Uhr ging meine Reise los... natürlich schon vorher mit Planen, Buchen, Packen und Vorfreude - nur geht Letzteres meist verloren bis ich in der Abflughalle bin...

At 2:15 pm my journey started... of course already some time before with planning, booking, packing and anticipation - only the latter usually goes lost until I am in the departure hall of the airport…

Airport Helicopter, Euro-Airport Basel

Ich hatte also mein Gepäck im Auto und fuhr los von Beinwil am See nach Basel zum Euro-Airport, wo ich eine Stunde später beim Abflug vorfuhr. Im April, als ich nach Ischia flog, war dies nicht möglich, da Bombenalarm wegen eines liegengebliebenen Gepäckstückes herrschte... Ich gab meinen neuen Koffer auf und fuhr zum Parkplatz der Airport Helicopter, wo ich mein Auto einen Monat stehen lassen darf! : ) Gerade als ich mit meinem Handkoffer den Kilometer zum Flughafen in Angriff nehmen wollte, fragte mich ein netter Herr, ob er mich mitnehmen dürfe - meine Reise beginnt doch schon super! : )

Thus my luggage was in the car and I took the road from Beinwil am See to Basel to the Euro-Airport, where I drove up an hour later. In April, when I flew to Ischia, this was not possible because of a bomb alert due to a left piece of luggage... I dropped off my new suitcase and then drove to the Airport Helicopter parking, where I could leave my car for a month! : ) Just when I wanted to start the kilometre back to the airport with my hand luggage, a nice gentleman asked me if he could take me there - my journey begins really great! : )

Dann ging alles sehr schnell und ich war eine der Letzten in der Boardingschlange, so dass ich meinen Handkoffer abgeben musste - trotz dass er fast leer war als ich alle technischen Geräte herausgenommen hatte! : ( Zum Glück habe ich immer eine stabile, grosse Chicorée Tasche dabei - genau solche Erfahrungen haben es mir gelehrt!

Then everything went very fast and I was one of the last in the boarding queue, so I had to hand my suitcase - despite that it was almost empty when I had taken out all the technical equipment! : ( Luckily I always have a sturdy, big Chicorée bag with me - that's what my travel experiences have taught me!

Pünktlich um 17:10 Uhr hob die easyJet Maschine in Basel ab und 2 Stunden später, kurz nach 19 Uhr, landeten wir in Catania bei Regen, Blitz und Donner sowie Applaus für die schöne Landung (schön, dass man das wieder vermehrt macht!).

Just in time at 5:10 pm the easyJet aircraft took off from Basel and 2 hours later, shortly after 7 pm, we landed in Catania with rain, thunder and lightning as well as applause for the nice landing (great that people restart doing it!).

Ich wurde von Lorenzo abgeholt und zum Hotel Romano Palace gefahren, das etwas ausserhalb und vom Flughafen gesehen vor der Stadt liegt. Unterwegs erhielt ich einige Tips für die Äolischen Inseln, denn die kannte er alle, da er dort lange Zeit Taxibootfahrer war...

I was picked up by Lorenzo and driven to the Hotel Romano Palace, which is situated just outside and from the airport before entering the city. On the way I got some recommendations for the Aeolian Islands, because he knew all of them as he worked as a taxi boat driver there for a long time...

Pizzeria Lido Arcobaleno, Catania, Sizilien, Italien  / Sicily, Italy

 

Nachdem ich mein Gepäck ins hübsche Zimmer gestellt hatte, machte ich mich gleich auf die Suche nach einer Pizza... den ganzen Tag hatte ich schon Lust darauf und ein Hüngerchen verspürte ich nun auch. Zum Glück muss man in Italien nicht weit suchen - gleich über die Strasse am Strand fand ich die Pizzeria Lido Arcobaleno... es regnete immer noch und ich genoss das Essen sowie den Service mit Herz...

After I had put my luggage in the pretty room, I immediately went in search of a pizza... the whole day I felt like it and now I even felt a small hunger. Fortunately you do not have to look that far for it in Italy - just across the street on the beach I found the Pizzeria Lido Arcobaleno... it was still raining and I enjoyed my meal and service all done with love…
