Auch hier im Hotel Medici, in der einzigen Fussgängerzone in Milazzo, habe ich fantastisch geschlafen. Da ich aber schon früh wach war, packte ich die Gelegenheit um joggen zu gehen... zuerst ging es ca. 700 m von einer Küste (Riviera Levante) zur anderen (Riviera di Ponente), dann dem Ponente Strand aus Kies entlang, der sich fast 2 km im Westen der Halbinsel erstreckt. Das Wasser ist hier nicht nur warm sondern auch kristallklar und lud mich buchstäblich zum Schwimmen ein! : )

Here at the Hotel Medici, in the only pedestrian area in Milazzo, I also slept fantastically. But since I was awake early, I grabbed the opportunity to go for a run... first I ran about 700 m from one coast (Riviera Levante) to the other (Riviera di Ponente), then along the Ponente beach of gravel, which extends almost 2 km on the west of the peninsula. The water is not only warm here but crystal clear and literally invited me to go for a swim! : )

Zurück im Hotel setzte ich mich in den hübschen Frühstücksraum und liess mich richtig verwöhnen... Da ich nur für eine Nacht ein Zimmer hatte, war danach Duschen, Packen und Zimmerräumen angesagt. Um meinen Blog auf den aktuellsten Stand zu bringen, setzte ich mich nochmals in den hübschen Raum und arbeitete...

Back at the hotel, I went to the beautiful breakfast room and had myself be properly treated... Since I only had a room for one night, thereafter was taking a shower, packing and clearing the room was announced. To update my blog, I went back to the pretty room and worked…

Kurz nach 13 Uhr packte ich meine Siebensachen und marschierte 600 m bei fast 30 Grad zum Petit Hotel - bis ich dort ankam war ich wieder klatschnass! Nun hatte ich wieder ein hübsches Zimmer, diesmal mit Sicht auf den Hafen!

Shortly after 1 am I packed my belongings and marched 600 m at almost 30 centigrade to the Petit Hotel - until I got there I was soaking wet again! Now I had another nice room, this time with view of the harbour!

Nach einer kleine Siesta (die Geschäfte sind auch erst um 16:30 Uhr wieder offen), machte ich mich auf um das Wichtigstes für die Äolischen Inseln einkaufen... dann ging es der Promenade Lungomare Garibaldi entlang und dann die Treppen hoch zum Castello di Milazzo: Das hat nicht nur eine  interessante Geschichte mit einer langer Liste von Eroberer (von der Steinzeit um 4000 v. Chr. über die Griechen, Römer, Byzantiner, Araber, Normannen, Aragoneser, Spanier, Habsburger, Bourbonen bis zu Garibaldi), sondern auch eine geniale Aussicht! So sah ich, wo ich heute Morgen joggen und schwimmen war.

After a little siesta (the shops do not reopen until 4:30 pm), I went to buy the most important things for the Aeolian Islands... thereafter I walked along the promenade Lungomare Garibaldi and then up the stairs to the Castello di Milazzo: There is not only an interesting history with a long list of conquerors (from the Stone Age around 4000 BC over the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Aragonese, Spaniards, Habsburgs, Bourbons to Garibaldi) but also a brilliant view! Thus I saw where I was jogging and swimming this morning.

Auf dem Rückweg durch das hübsche Borgo machte ich einen Halt bei Giulietta in der Bar Mare Mosso um mich mit einem frisch gepressten Orangenjus aufzutanken...

On the way back through the pretty Borgo I made a stop at Giulietta's bar Mare Mosso to refuel myself with a freshly squeezed orange juice…

Eine halbe Stunde vor Sonnenuntergang (hier um 19:10 Uhr) traf ich an der Riviera di Ponente ein, wo ich im Open Sea mit einem Prosecco den Sonnenuntergang und die Äolischen Inseln bestaunte.

Half an hour before sunset (here at 7:10 pm) I arrived at the Riviera di Ponente, where I marvelled at the sunset and the Aeolian Islands with a Prosecco at the Open Sea.

Danach spazierte ich durch die Halbinsel zurück zum Hafen, wo ich bereits ein einladendes Restaurant gesichtet hatte... im Gamberosso bestellte ich ein Thunfischsteak mit Pistazienkruste und gegrilltes Gemüse - klar durfte auch ein Glas sizilianischer Weisswein nicht fehlen: Das grosse Glas füllen sie hier überall fast voll, so dass auch ich so ende... ; )

Thereafter I walked across the peninsula back to the harbour, where I had already spotted an inviting restaurant... at the Gamberosso I ordered a tuna steak with pistachio crust and grilled vegetables - of course a glass of Sicilian white wine could not be missing: The large glass is almost filled up everywhere up to now, so that  I end up like this too... ; )
