Letzte Nacht, als ich etwas betrunken 'nach Hause' kam, war es sooo heiss und draussen herrlich windig, dass ich die Matratze auf die Terrasse schleppte um wie wirklich zuhause draussen schlafen zu können... : ) Am Morgen als ich erwachte, schien das Wetter viel besser als angekündigt: Ein Tragflügelboot hatte es auf jeden Fall bis nach Panarea geschafft!

Last night, when I came back ‘home’ a bit drunk, it was sooo hot and nice and windy outside, that I dragged the mattress onto my terrace to sleep really like at home... : ) When I woke up in the morning, the weather seemed much better than announced: One hydrofoil had definitely made it to Panarea!

Beim Frühstück bei Da Francesco besuchte mich Renato, der Nacktschwimmer von gestern Morgen. Wegen doch etwas zu viel Wind wurde meine Bootstour mit Mimmo abgesagt - dafür nahm Renato mich jetzt mit seinem Dinghy auf eine kleine Tour inklusive Besichtigung des 62-Fuss (19 m) Katamaran Kaskazi Four…

Rechtzeitig um noch ein Billet zu lösen, waren wir zurück im Hafen von San Pietro und um 12:45 Uhr lief ich mit der Liberty Lines trotz hoher Wellen von Panarea aus. Der übliche Zwischenhalt in Ginostra, Italiens abgeschiedenstes Dorf im Süden Strombolis, fiel aber wegen zu hoher Wellen buchstäblich ins Wasser! Eigentlich hatte ich vor das spätere Schiff um 15:30 Uhr nehmen, da mich aber schon in der Nacht Böen bis 50 km/h aus dem Schlaf gerissen hatten, nahm ich dieses, das unterwegs war, wie Renato mit seinem App herausfand.

Just in time to get a ticket, we returned to the harbor of San Pietro and at 12:45 I left with Liberty Lines from Panarea despite high waves. The usual stopover in Ginostra, Italy's most secluded village in the south of Stromboli, was impossible because of too high and strong waves! Actually, I intended to take the later ship at 3:30 pm, but since there were already gusts with up to 50 km/h during the night, I took the earlier one, which was on the way, how Renato found out with his app.

Eine halbe Stunde später erreichten wir Stromboli, wo mich Gianluca mit seinem Taxi erwartete. Er fuhr mich ins Il Gabbiano Relais, wo ich für die kommenden 3 Nächte ein wunderschönes Appartement mit fantastischem Meerblick bezog. Da mich nun die Müdigkeit einholte, ruhte ich mich erst einmal aus – mit Blick aufs Meer sogar vom Bett aus! : )

Half an hour later we reached Stromboli, where Gianluca awaited me with his taxi. He drove me to the Il Gabbiano Relais, where I will stay in a beautiful apartment with fantastic sea views for the next 3 nights. As tiredness overtook me, I first took a rest - with sea view even out of my bed! : )

Am Abend machte ich mich dem Meer entlang auf ins Zentrum. Heute war der feuchtester und somit kühlste Tag und Abend meiner Reise: 26 Grad mit Sonne, nachts um 22 - endlich kam eine meiner Jacken zum Einsatz, so habe ich sie nicht ganz vergebens mitgeschleppt… Der aktive Stromboli rauchte und es lag sehr viel Energie in der Luft und den Menschen hier! Nach einem Prosecco bei Nino und seiner Bubble Queen traf ich Fabrizio, Antonio und Gianluca (Taxi) in der Blu Bar zum Apero…

In the evening I took a walk to the center along the ocean. Today was the most humid and therefore coolest day and evening of my journey: 26 centigrade with sun, at night 22 - finally one of my jackets was called into action, thus I did not bring them with me in vain... The active Stromboli was fuming and there was a lot of energy in the air and the people here! After a Prosecco with Nino at his Bubble Queen I met Fabrizio, Antonio and Gianluca (taxi) at the Blu Bar for a drink...

Fabrizio hatte ich kurz nach meiner Ankunft im Il Gabbiano Relais auf seinem coolen Roller angetroffen. Die Insel ist so klein (12,6 km²), dass es sehr wahrscheinlich ist, dass man sich wieder trifft! Er zeigte mir sein schönes, offenes Haus und lud mich danach zum Abendessen ins Ristorante Punta Lena ein… Mamma mia, wo bin ich nur wieder gelandet!? Milena des ausgezeichneten Punta Lena ist Fabrizios Cousine, die sogar schweizerdeutsch spricht, da sie in Basel geboren wurde – so sympathisch! : ))

I had met Fabrizio shortly after my arrival at the Il Gabbiano Relais when he passed me with cool scooter. The island is so small (12.6 km²) that it is very likely that you meet again! He showed me his beautiful, open house and then invited me to dinner at the Ristorante Punta Lena... Mamma mia, where did I end up this time!? Milena of the excellent Punta Lena is Fabrizio's cousin, who even speaks Swiss German since she was born in Basel - so lovely! : ))

On the way back Stromboli shone in the sky and showed his momentary activity: It erupted on the 3rd of July this year and its last eruption was a month ago, on the 28th of August...
